| I was invited to a Traditional Small Craft Society meeting in Hamilton the other Wednesday evening, (Third Wednesday of the month, interested people contact Roger Kane 07 846 0306 for venue) and drove on over hoping to meet old friends. We met at Roger's home where he was proud to show off his project which is one of my Houdinis now just about ready to start fitting seats and centrecase. Sadly I did not take my camera but Roger has given me the photos below and has promised to keep me up to date as the boat progresses so with luck this will become a continuing story. Roger started building in February this year, and six months into the project has a very boaty looking shape, more finished looking by far then the skeleton shown here. From the stern, note the bracing to hold her shape while the stringers and planking goes on, you can see the outlines of her shape. Until next time, good work Roger. John Welsford |

![]() Houdini is framed up mounted on a jig made of a pair of steel construction beams, note the big lamp up in the rafters for night time work. From the port side aft you can see that she is going to be a very big little boat for under 14 ft. long. I am looking forward to seeing the next batch of photos as she now has the planking on, the dummy frames out and the king plank on the foredeck, the space inside is just huge and she looks as though she is about twice the size she really is. |
