MENISCUS
| Meniscus is a sloop rigged Navigator out of Hamilton in New Zealand's North Island. She was built by Nigel McCarter a specialist in industrial safety who has been of immense help to woodenboat.net.nz During construction Nigel and John Leathwick (Hau Tai) created a set of templates for marking out many of the frame sections of the Navigator. These templates are available through woodenboat.net.nz Nigel chose the mast and mainsail from a 505 Moth to sloop rig Meniscus. The original intention was to reduce the rig a little but Nigel confessed in the end he did not have the heart to cut into the wooden spars. The jib was made for Meniscus. nmccarter@clear.net.nz |

We are looking forward to receiving some more photographs from Nigels collection that demonstrate the care and craftsmanship that went into the construction. What you cannot see here are the laminated coamings of alternating light and dark timber strips which have been bright finished. |
