I received a phone call the other day from Baden Pascoe who inherited the boat above from his father. Baden was a bit surprised to find I was a relic from the Ironman Triathlon days and that we knew each other.
We discussed the dory design at some length and he promised me some words to go with the picture above.
I have to say I like the look of the boat and look forward to Baden's story with some relish.

Hi Dave,
Dad really did know his "stuff" when it came to dory design. Dories are like bike frames, very simple and most people think they can design them. Like bike frames, some perform like pigs and others are a joy to ride and do all the right things. Dories are the same. He knows , he and my brother Mitch built over 400 hundred of them over a 40 year period.
John Dory is a pleasure to use , everything thing is done with little effort and fuss. J.D. performs under all conditions and just keeps on surprising us. Just another mark of a great boat designer and builder. Robin Elliot the author of Southern Breeze and The Logan's calls him the "Enigma". I think this sums up Dad to the tee!

We still await Baden's story but I can tell I have now seen John Dory in the flesh and she is every bit the boat Baden claims. DJR
