Dear John
Finally I've managed to get these photos together! I've been out in the boat many times now (over to Kawau and Waiheke) and the boat goes smoothly through the water. I frequently have folk asking who made the boat, where can you get the plans… Thanks for the help over the phone, it has been a pleasurable challenge. Yours sincerely Jan Stam

Jan has made a wonderful job of building his Joansa. Some of those places he mentions are 25 odd miles north of his launching point. Looks just perfect weather, calms seas, a graceful boat nicely built and the day off work. I note the Honda 2hp 4 stroke outboard motor. More than enough power for this slender, easily driven boat. This motor is my all time favourite.

The gunwales going in. Jan seems to have bought a couple more clamps. The sander is there for cleaning up the glass tapes ready for painting and the sea tops are on. A neat and tidy job.

I like this workshop, although it looks untidy the floor is clean, there is personal safety equipment in use, plans pinned to the wall for quick reference and a good stool on which to sit and think. The variety of clamps in use is interesting too, I can remember making ones like the square cornered ones in metalwork class at school when I was about 13.

Outside for the first time. She is a lovely shape.
